It’s safe to say that Ben Affleck is back in the upper echelon of Hollywood as both an actor and a director, thanks to putting his career into his own hands with films like GONE BABY GONE, THE TOWN, and ARGO. He’s getting serious buzz for a Best Actor and/or Best Director Oscar (I’d argue he only deserves a nomination for the directing side of things) and, in an article for GQ, where he was awarded their filmmaker of the year, he got to talking about his other projects in the pipeline.
The one that we’re most focused on and excited for is the long awaited adaptation of Stephen King’s THE STAND. Here’s what the PHANTOMS star had to say: ”Right now we’re having a very hard time…But I like the idea—it’s like The Lord of the Rings in America. And it’s about how we would reinvent ourselves as a society. If we started all over again, what would we do?”
I’m so excited for it…but this is hardly good news. He’s struggling with it, probably due to the scope, but is still onboard and at work on it, so perhaps it balances out. More on it as we know.
