As we learned in my previous post (Get To Know The ED-itor: Favorite Monster & Universal Horror), Godzilla and his many films, THE THING, CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON, and the Harryhausen library are all tops on my list of monster films. But those are easy picks for anyone, even non-monster fans. So I created this list of the monster/horror movies that I most enjoy to give you a bit more of an idea as to where my monster tastes run:

Mostly complete agreement with notable exception of “Predator”, a macho movie by a guy who didn’t have a clue about macho. It did have the silliest macho line, where it is pointed out to Jesse “the Governer Body” Ventura that he’s bleeding and he replies, “Ain’t got time to bleed.” I so wanted the alien to gut him next. Give me “Pred 2″ any day or night.

I appreciate you taking the time read through it all. I certainly understand your thoughts on PREDATOR. I was pretty young when it came out and in the prime of my action movie binging, so getting to see the king fight off what was truly an amazing monster was a real treat. Sure, he had gone up against some in the CONAN series, but the Predator is an incredible design. The movie really is a reflection of the era. I did enjoy the second one as well. But the first one just worked for me. It also sparked a lifetime of yelling, “GET TO DA CHOPPA!”
