“Avatar” Sequels to Start Filming in 2013

James Cameron is hard at work on the scripts for the sequels to AVATAR. He’s aiming to complete them by February, and had this to say: ”I want to get these scripts nailed down, I don’t want to be writing the movie in post production…We kind of did that on the first picture, I ended up cutting out a lot of scenes and so on and I don’t want to do that again.

He’s predicting that Peter Jackson’s THE HOBBIT, with its controversial 48 frames per second, will pave the way for what he’s going to do for AVATAR. This seems to suggest that he’ll go the same route. Shooting is tentatively set to begin at the end of 2013. There’s not much set in stone on these sequels, because hell, it’s a Cameron picture and it’s a long way off, but he has mentioned that he wants to bring the focus to underwater areas of Pandora, not a surprise given his fascination with the ocean.
