THE MONK — a French gothic thriller based on a novel by Matthew G. Lewis, starring the great Vincent Cassel — now has a poster for its American release. And it’s creepy. Behold!
The film’s synopsis:
Abandoned at birth at the gates of a Capuchin monastery in Madrid, Brother Ambrosio (Cassel), raised by the friars, grows up into a preacher admired far and wide for his fervor. Ambrosio is feared for his righteousness and believes he is immune from temptation – until the arrival of a mysterious apprentice undermines his convictions and leads him down a dangerous path of sin, corruption and murder.
THE MONK comes out in theaters in a limited release on March 8th, the same day that it also becomes available on VOD.
