Cobie Smulders is already signed on to return as Maria Hill in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, but it looks like — despite her ongoing role in CBS’ HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER — that she may be able to join the cast in Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen’s MARVEL’S S.H.I.E.L.D. Here’s what the aptly named Smulders had to say:
“The commitments to ['How I Met Your Mother'] don’t affect it…and I can’t really say but there are definite talks about it… I will do Maria Hill until they fire me and hire someone else to do it.”
I’ve been a fan of Cobie since her early HIMYM days (lately, the show has lagged and dragged worse than the middle seasons of LOST), and I’m excited to see her role in the MU expand. She’d also make that cast a whole lot better, joining Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Elizabeth Henstridge, Iain de Caestecker, and Brett Ward.
