Alexandra Daddario, the female lead in TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D recently took the time to chat about the film, discussing her character and the shoot.
On her character’s legacy in the series: “I wasn’t all that familiar with the Texas Chainsaw franchise and I knew who Leatherface was, but I had never seen any of the films so I didn’t know what the meaning behind it was…Watching the original film and other films and researching it, I got to understand [who my] character is and what it means to the franchise and that’s when it all became a lot more meaningful for me.“
How it differs: “I think it’s great that it will surprise people and be different. The ones that stick out in most recent memories are the newer films. And I think those stick to something more formulaic, ours does to but it deviates from the other films. It stands on its own as a new unique version. Especially with the 3D, too, which makes it a ‘totally cool stuff flying at you’ horror film.“
Keep an eye on a chase scene through an amusement park: “That was a hard sequence to shoot because all I did was run through the crowd screaming at the top of my lungs over and over and over again at different angles. I had a great time on the shoot, but it was difficult as much as it was fun. One thing I got to do that was awesome was hang off the side of this Ferris Wheel and do that stunt myself.“
