I thought it was a done deal, but it sounds like Jamie Foxx isn’t completely locked down as playing the baddie in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2. I do think it’s a foregone conclusion, though, given what Foxx had to say: “Fingers crossed it all works out…I have a little daughter, four years old, and what’s crazy is like, this past year she had a birthday where Spider-Man was the theme… I haven’t sprung it on her yet, but she will go crazy!”
Apparently his daughter isn’t allowed on the internet, or avoids looking up her daddy. Probably a wise move. Max Dillon AKA Electro, has never appeared in film to this point (unless he turns out to be the man in the end credits scene), and it’ll be exciting to see what Foxx brings to the role, once he’s finalized.
The film, which has also added THE DESCENDANTS’ Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane, sounds very promising and continues to search for a Harry Osborn. The role that made James Franco famous (though fans of his will point to FREAKS AND GEEKS) will have a different look this time around, according to casting notes. Instead of a larger, athletic actor, they want someone “dark and edgy.” It sounds like there are many up for the role, including Brady Corbet (MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE, MELANCHOLIA), Dane DeHaan (CHRONICLE, LAWLESS), and Alden Ehrenreich (STOKER, BEAUTIFUL CREATURES).
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Shailene Woodley and opens May 2, 2014. They will be acting out the words provided by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner, and James Vanderbilt and will be directed by Marc Webb once again.
