DC has, it seems, an entirely different mindset than its rival when it comes to ‘drumming up excitement’ for future titles. Their strategy? Blow the story wide open and watch it spread like wildfire over every possible major news outlet before said issue comes out, virtually guaranteeing a mad rush to buy it. Hey, if it works…
This week’s plot spoiler is a doozy.
In case you haven’t figured it out yet, this post contains a spoiler.
A SUPER BIG SPOILER.
Giving you time to back out now.
….
…
Okay, you asked for it.
According to reports, lthough every member of the bat family technically ‘survived’ Scott Snyder’s massive Joker story “Death of the Family”, Grant Morrison will make the move in BATMAN INCORPORATED that some have suspected he would: killing off Damian Wayne, Batman’s current Robin and Bruce Wayne’s biological son. This will undoubtedly make leagues of followers upset, but seeing as Morrison is somewhat responsible for the character in the first place, it feels appropriate that Wayne should meet his end before Morrison’s stint at DC does (Morrison has been writing Batman books at DC since 2006).
According to the New York Post, who received the exclusive scoop, Robin will go out like a hero, despite first being introduced as a “super-brat”.
Stay tuned for a review of the issue later this week.
Here’s hoping that Harper Row (see BATMAN #12) has a chance to step up to the plate, now…
