Frank Grillo Joins “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”

It was reported a couple days ago by Frank Grillo himself that he had a screen test for a role in CAPTAIN AMERICA: WINTER SOLDIER, and gave #bones as a clue as to its identity. Now, it’s official: Frank Grillo, who has been a hot character actor for TV and film the past few years (with WARRIOR, END OF WATCH, THE GREY and PRISON BREAK on the resume) has been hired as the villainous Crossbones. He’s also in ZERO DARK THIRTY and GANGSTER SQUAD, two of the most highly anticipated films to come out in the next few months.

Crossbones played a big role in the assassination of Captain America in the WINTER SOLDIER comic storyline, that was written by Ed Brubaker and is clearly an inspiration for this sequel. Grillo joins Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Samuel L. Jackson, Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, and potentially Hayley Atwell and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (as Sharon Carter). The film comes out April 4th, 2014.
