This is the definition of a good news/bad news story.
HBO has agreed to a two year deal with A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE’s George R. R. Martin to develop and produce new shows for the pay cable network. He’ll continue to executive produce for GAME OF THRONES and will still help on the writing duties from time to time (he’s written one episode every season).
This is great news for TV fans, who will get to see Martin’s voice and vision on more genre-type shows. But, this probably means those eagerly awaiting another book in the A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE series are likely going to have to exercise even more patience, following the six years we’ve had to deal with waiting for the newest tome, A DANCE OF DRAGONS.
