Hammer Films Procures Dedicated YouTube Channel

A Hammer Film Production

Hammer fans can now watch select films in context and at the click of a button. Hammer Films, part of Exclusive Media, was re-launched this year with THE WOMAN IN BLACK starring Daniel Radcliffe—which broke U.K. box office records—and has procured a dedicated YouTube channel which is live right now at www.youtube.com/hammerfilms.

Hammer promises exclusive new content from current Hammer productions such as previews, commentary and behind the scenes material—right now you can watch an “Exclusive First Look” at THE QUIET ONES starring Jared Harris and Sam Clafin—as well as restored classics available to stream online, including THE QUATERMASS XPERIMENT, THE MAN IN BLACK, CAPTAIN KRONOS: VAMPIRE HUNTER and the TV show DICK BARTON: SPECIAL AGENT with introductions by official Hammer historian Marcus Hearn and Hammer archivist Robert J.E. Simpson.

Hammer president and CEO Simon Oakes said: “We hope this new platform will allow us to continue to reach fans who have responded so well to films like Let Me In and The Woman in Black, while continuing to honor the great filmmaking history of our company.”

I suppose beggars can’t be choosers, but why aren’t the films streaming in HD?! All three films and contextual material on the channel right now are only available in 480p or less and there’s no information on whether Hammer plans on upgrading streaming quality to 720p or not. Maybe they plan to release the films on Blu-ray in the future?
