Man, J.J. Abrams is busy. In case he hadn’t covered the nerd spectrum with STAR TREK, LOST, and STAR WARS, he’s about to appeal to the gamers out there.
Valve’s HALF-LIFE and/or PORTAL may be coming to the big screen. At the DICE Summit, J.J. Abrams and Valve’s managing director, Gabe Newell, teased at a partnership.
Abrams started with: “There’s an idea we have for a game that we’d like to work with Valve on.“
Newell knows a cash cow when he sees it: “We’re super excited about that…and we also want to talk about making movies, either a ‘Portal’ movie or a ‘Half-Life’ movie… What we are actually doing here, we are recapitulating a series of conversations going on. We reached the point that we decided to do more than talk.“
Could Abrams add HALF-LIFE or PORTAL to his resume? Either way, if BAD ROBOT was a publicly traded company, I would’ve been all over that months/years ago.
