Stephen King’s time travel book 11/22/63 came out last year, and, almost immediately, SILENCE OF THE LAMBS’ Jonathan Demme snapped up the rights to write, produce, and direct a film adaptation.
Apparently, ’twas not to be. Demme has announced that he’s left the project, due to creative differences with his friend Stephen King. Here’s what he had to say: “This is a big book, with lots in it. And I loved certain parts of the book for the film more than Stephen did. We’re friends, and I had a lot of fun working on the script, but we were too apart on what we felt should be and what be should be out of the script.“
We’ll see what happens next. I’m amazed King even has time to talk to everyone involved with adaptations from his work. There’s about 1,300 of them going on right now…
