Joseph Gordon-Levitt Considered For “Guardians of the Galaxy”?

Apparently, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is being considered for every single male role in the galaxy at the moment, and that includes the highly coveted lead in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. If you had told someone five years ago that three of the most in demand young actors (Zachary Levi and Jim Sturgess are also in the running) would be vying to play Star-Lord (aka Peter Quill aka WHO?), they may have looked at you blankly, expressing that comic book movies were a fad going sour.

Tell that to Marvel Studios, who may nab JGL for the lad in James Gunn’s film, the weirdest of the Marvel releases to this point. Nothing is set in stone, and this could merely be rumor, because we’ve been going around in circles for this role, much like that of Harry Osborne in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2. I expect we’ll get a concrete answer soon, because the film comes out August 1st, 2014, and has other “high profile” roles to cast, such as Drax the Destroyer, Groot, Rocket Racoon, and Gamora.

If Gordon-Levitt is cast, this could potentially take him out of the running for JUSTICE LEAGUE, and would be another decisive victory for Marvel over DC. Imagine taking the role of Star-Lord before Batman? Of course, in this brave new world, JGL can have everything he wants. So maybe he’ll be both. One thing that may be able to be ascertained from all these rumors: clearly, big high-profile actors are interested in the film, meaning Nicole Perlman and Chris McCoy’s script must be interesting at the very least. Stay tuned.
