Kaiju Attack San Francisco As “Pacific Rim” Viral Campaign Launches [Video, Blueprints, Documents]

After months shrouded in secrecy, now that the viral campaign for Guillermo Del Toro’s PACIFIC RIM has launched, we’ve now seen a bunch of great stuff from the upcoming film, including the first glimpses of the kaiju and blue prints for the robots.

Yesterday, the Pan Pacific Defense Corps website (thanks to Total Film for the link) launched, where you can find a “Kaiju Alert Test” video and a classified document directed to the Great Britain Air Command. We have those for you below.

The video:

The document:

Here is the first video, a breaking news story on the kaiju attack on San Francisco (highlighted on the website), showing the first images of the monstrous kaiju:

Today a few blue prints for the Jaegers, the robots that will fight the kaiju, have been released. Check those out below (with Gipsy Danger leading the way, thanks to Wired):

Two more (Eiga):

The above blueprint is for a Russian Jaeger called Cherno Alpha. The below blueprint is for a Japanese Jaeger known as Coyote Tango.

And a fourth (from Yourmovies.au), called the Striker Eureka, stationed at the Sydney Shatterdome. Here’s its description: ”the most advanced battle machine ever assembled: the biggest, fastest and strongest Jaeger ever to walk the earth.” Basically PACIFIC RIM’s Optimus Prime.

Now that’s how you kick off a viral campaign. Whew. PACIFIC RIM opens July 12th, 2013, and stars Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Idris Elba, Ron Perlman and Charlie Day.
