We’ve had a lot of casting rumors about GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, especially for the lead role of Star-Lord, and to a lesser extent, Drax the Destroyer.
This newest rumor involves Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler possibly lending their respective talents to the film. This has led to the obvious speculation that both are being looked at as the voice for Rocket Raccoon, clearly a source of comedy in the film. The idea has met some backlash, but even if they don’t wanna go for straight comedy, both Carrey and Sandler have proved their acting chops. I’d prefer Alan Tudyk, but that’s just me.
Apparently, you can also add three names to the mix of Star-Lord, which is getting to be ridiculously long. The names are lower key than the previous ones attached to Peter Quill, and are as follows: Wes Bentley (THE HUNGER GAMES), Chris Lowell (THE HELP, UP IN THE AIR), and Cam Gigandet (EASY A, BURLESQUE).
The script comes from Chris McCoy and Nicole Perlman, and is directed by James Gunn. The film opens August 1st, 2014.
