WRECK-IT RALPH was the best videogame-centric movie ever made, but prepare yourself for a ton more (HALO, DEUS EX, and a buttload of others are coming our way in the next couple years). One such film is ASTEROIDS, based on the classic 70s Atari game that practically spawned the video game industry.
Universal has nabbed Jez Butterworth (FAIR GAME, THE LAST LEGION, and an upcoming James Brown biopic) to rewrite the script, which came from Matt Lopez and Evan Spiliotopoulos. The film is produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who shepherded TRANSFORMERS and GI JOE to the screen, if that tickles your pickle.
I hate movies that are made from products just to use their brand even if there isn’t a logical story involved (welcome to America), but hey, this will probably be better than BATTLESHIP. Right? Right?!
