The Genesis Code, the mind-blowing techno-thriller debut novel from Lisa von Biela.

Obedience and submission…uploaded directly to the brain…

When Mark Weston is hired by OneMarket, the prestigious and premier supplier of global equity trading systems, owned by international business tycoon Simon Harris, he thinks he’s found his dream job. Great pay, amazing benefits—and sure, the hours are long and the demands on his time are often extreme—but it means financial security for him and his wife Sheila, a new life and a new beginning, a fast track to success with a great company.

But deep within the walls of the enigmatic OneMarket, there is something unthinkable happening that only a select few are aware of, the development of a new kind of invasive technology dubbed THE GENESIS CODE, that could not only expand Simon Harris’ empire, but create a new, more efficient and obedient workforce. Mark and his coworkers have unknowingly become part of a horrifying experiment they may never be able to escape, and time is running out.

A new kind of worker…a new kind of hybrid…a new kind of corporate slave…

The Genesis Code…upload complete.

I have to say up front that I loved this book. Right from the very first chapter I was hooked. I was at a point that I just couldn’t wait for my break or my lunch at work so I could find out what was going to happen next, and this anticipation in between readings really added to the experience. Not many writers can hold my attention like that, and for a debut novelist that is rarer still.

For a debut novel this was very very impressive. Lisa’s characters were a joy to spend time with, even the despicable ones. The pacing was extraordinary, the twists and turns will take your breath away.

Another aspect that really put the book over the top was the technological detail she used in this story. She really did her research on this one and her 25 year career in information technology really paid dividends with the realism of the technology in this story.

If you are looking for a heart racing, roller coaster ride of a book to help get you through this seemingly unending winter, you will be hard pressed to find a better tale than THE GENESIS CODE and I give it my highest recommendation.
