Casting rumors are kicking into high fear for James Gunn’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. We can add another famous young actor to the mix for the role of Star-Lord, and also have news that three actors are in consideration for the role of Drax the Destroyer in the film.
First things first, OFFICE star John Krasinski is being looked at in the lead role of Star-Lord/Peter Quill. It’s hard to take it too seriously, since everyone has been mentioned as a possibility, from Zachary Levi, to Jim Sturgess, to Joseph Gordon-Levitt. But, it’s another impressive choice for the ensemble.
Secondly, it sounds like Marvel is eyeing three names for the role of Drax the Destroyer. In comic book lore, Drax was originally a normal human named Arthur Douglas, whose family was murdered at the hands of Thanos. Kronos took Arthur Douglas’ soul and placed it into a far superior body to take on Thanos.
So what are the three names mentioned to play him? Brian Patrick Wade (right, THE GUARDIAN, GENERATION KILL, BIG BANG THEORY), Dave Bautista (middle, WWF RAW, THE MAN WITH THE IRON FISTS, RIDDICK), and Isaiah Mustafa (left) of CHUCK and Old Spice fame. We’ll soon see if any of these rumors have any teeth.
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is slated for an August 1st, 2014 release.
