Star-Lord In “Guardians of the Galaxy”: Zachary Levi Or Jim Sturgess?

Marvel Studios’ most eclectic upcoming project, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, is closer to finding its leading man, the character of Peter Quill or Star-Lord. James Gunn and company had narrowed the list to 5 names last we checked in, but now that list is down to two: CHUCK’s Zachary Levi and CLOUD ATLAS’ Jim Sturgess. Levi wasn’t apart of the first list of five names, and due to his role as Fandral in THOR: THE DARK WORLD, his addition comes as a mild surprise, but the guy has all the makings of a future star. So, of course, does Sturgess, who has seemed on the cusp of big bucks in Hollywood since 21 and ACROSS THE UNIVERSE.

I like them both, especially Levi, to the point where I almost want them to play BIGGER roles in the Marvel Universe, but who’s to say that Star-Lord won’t become a big time player in the Marvel cinematic Universe? So far, Marvel Studios has churned out hit after hit, and if GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY becomes another, one of these guys will have a marketable and fairly fresh superhero to call their own. Either way it goes, you can’t go wrong with these two. I’ll be intrigued to find out who wins out.

The film is set for an August 1st, 2014 release date, and comes from a script by Nicole Perlman and Chris McCoy. Once Star-Lord is cast, the rest of the super team should follow, such as Drax the Destroyer, Groot, Rocket Raccoon and Gamora.
