Chandler Riggs, or Carl from THE WALKING DEAD, has signed on to MERCY, an adaptation of Stephen King’s short story “Gramma,” written for his 1985 anthology, SKELETON CREW. He joins fellow child actor Joel Courtney, a stand out from JJ Abrams’ SUPER 8. The pair play the main characters of the narrative: two young boys visit the hospital where they find out that their dying grandmother is a witch with powers from the Ancient Ones. The story is inspired by H.P. Lovecraft.
Frances O’Connor (AI, THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST) is already a part of the cast, to play the role of their mother. The film will be directed by Peter Cornwell (THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT) from a script by Matt Greenberg (REIGN OF FIRE, H20)
