TV Round-Up: “American Horror Story,” “Once Upon A Time,” “The Walking Dead,” & “Fringe”

In the coming weeks, our review section will get a big push with the fall premieres of a bevy of science fiction, fantasy and horror TV shows. It’s a golden age of TV in general, but for fans of the aforementioned genres, we’re getting a lot more to watch, and it’s exciting. Over the last week I’ve wrangled some teasers, promos, casting updates and images from four of our very favorite returning TV shows: AMERICAN HORROR STORY: ASYLUM, ONCE UPON A TIME, THE WALKING DEAD, and FRINGE. Read on.

AMERICAN HORROR STORY: ASYLUM

I’ve finally been catching up with the first season of AHS (I know, I know), and it’s gotten me that much more excited for the second season, which will probably leave me feeling dirty, exhilarated, terrified and weirded out, all in the same scene.

It’s been two days since we last we updated you on Ryan Murphy’s FX horror anthology, and so, of course we have two more teasers to share, as well as a new poster, which is similar to a teaser poster we had seen [Dread Central].

First up is #18, entitled “Exam”:

Next is #19, “The Woods”:

Exam is the easy winner here, even though I loved the beautiful imagery in “The Woods,” it literally had one second of movement.

AMERICAN HORROR STORY: ASYLUM premieres Wednesday October 17th on FX and brings back Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Zachary Quinto, Evan Peters, Lilly Rabe and Frances Conroy, along with newcomers Adam Levine, Clea Duvall, Franka Potente, Chloe Sevigny, James Cromwell, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, and Joseph Fiennes.

OUAT returns for its sophomore season on Sunday September 30th. The show looks like it is promising bigger and better things, and if you take a look below at the promo for “Broken,” the premiere, you’ll have to agree. Complete with Jamie Chung as Mulan, a Captain Hook sighting, dragons, Rumpel, and Beauty (Emilie De Ravin) action, the curse of Storybrooke has been broken, and now the gang has to pick up the pieces.

SpoilerTV has a synopsis for “Broken”:

In the Season Two premiere episode, “Broken,” reality and myth begin to merge as the fairytale characters awaken from Evil Queen Regina’s broken curse and remember who they were. But to their dismay, they aren’t transported back to fairytale land. To make matters worse, Rumplestiltskin – aka Mr. Gold – in an effort to gain the upper hand in his power struggle with Regina, has introduced magic into the town. In fairytales magic has its place, but in our world it can have unfathomable consequences. Meanwhile, back in the fairytale land, Prince Phillip awakens his sleeping beauty, Aurora (Sarah Bolger, “The Tudors”), but discovers that he and his traveling companion, Mulan (Jamie Chung, “Sucker Punch,” “The Hangover Part II”), will soon have to face a deadly foe, on the Season Premiere of “Once Upon a Time,” SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 30 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Lana Parilla, right up there with Robert Carlyle as the biggest scene stealer on OUAT, gave an interview discussing her role as the Evil Queen in the following embedded video:
