There’s a ton of stuff for THE WALKING DEAD recently, but I wanted to update you guys on a few of my favorite returning shows (and a couple of new shows premiering on the CW) this fall (cue thousands of internet readers closing this window now). No really! ARROW looks great, and well, I won’t try to defend BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, but the show does have Kristen Kreuk in it. As you read on you can expect to find some goodies on ONCE UPON A TIME and S.H.I.E.L.D. and two more teasers from AMERICAN HORROR STORY: ASYLUM as well.
ONCE UPON A TIME
In an interview, OUAT star Jennifer Morrison (she plays Emma Swan, the one fated to bring magic back to Storybrooke), talks about the changes that Season 2 will bring to her character.
“The world is upside-down for Emma…Not that she is Alice in Wonderland, but in a sense she [has] gone down the rabbit hole. Up is down, down is up, left is right…. Her whole world is shaken up, and she’s sort of a new being.”
Now that Mary Margaret and David, or Snow White and Prince Charming, remember their past lives and remember that Emma is their daughter, things will get a little “complicated,” understandably so. Her relationship with Henry, however, remains intact; “[Emma] has to find a way protect her son and her relationships with her family, and figure out how to move forward without being so [emotionally] guarded.”
On the subject of love interests, which is why I watch OUAT (false), Morrison couldn’t broach the subject of whether actor Jamie Dornan will return as the Huntsman/Sheriff Graham, but she does tease that “there’s definitely romance coming” for Miss Swan.
RE: magic: “It’s going to be a long process of discovery…In trying to keep everyone safe and trying to figure out what [magic returning] means for the world, you’re going to start to discover the sorts of things that she’s capable of — and she’s going to discover that, too.”
And to top it all off, we have a poster for the new season (above), featuring Morrison as Swan.
ARROW
We hinted at this in the last massive TV round-up, and now it’s been confirmed. The Royal Flush Gang will indeed making their presence known in CW’s ARROW, according to Zap2It. Up and coming actor Kyle Schmid (BEING HUMAN, COPPER) has been cast as Kyle Reston or “Ace,” the head of the gang, and will be in episode 106 (“Legacies”), which will feature a major bank robbery with the perpetrators wearing playing card masks. Sounds about right.
Schmid is a fantastic hire, and joins Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen AKA the Green Arrow, Katie Cassidy as Laurel “Dinah” Lance (soon to be Black Canary), Willa Holland as Thea Queen (and eventually will become Speedy), Colin Donnell as Tommy Merlyn, David Ramsey, Susanna Thompson, and Paul Blackthorne. ARROW comes to the CW on Wednesday, October 10th. The Royal Flush gang joins the Huntress, Deadshot, China White, and many other rumored players in the DC card deck to appear in ARROW this season and beyond (we can hope). The show comes from the minds of Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, David Nutter, and Andrew Kreisberg.
