It’s Tuesday, so let’s check out what’s going on in the world of entertainment!
• The Eisner Award nominees were announced today and we’d like to give a shout-out to Paul Tobin, who was nominated for two awards for his work on BANDETTE (with Colleen Coover, for Best Continuing Series and Best Digital/Webcomic). • Two-time Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe is returning to the superhero universe. After memorably playing the Green Goblin in Sam Raimi’s SPIDER-MAN trilogy, Dafoe’s joining JUSTICE LEAGUE, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Details of the role are being kept under wraps, but the Reporter points out that he will not be playing a villain. That doesn’t mean he’s playing a superhero, though, either. And having portrayed everything from Jesus to a vampire, Dafoe likes to paint in shades of gray. …
- People (of all people) debuted the first look at Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa, the Power Rangers’ arch nemesis. It’s quite a departure from her TV persona. Compare the two and let me know which you prefer in the comments!
- For those of you not interested in being Ellen Ripley, perhaps you’d prefer to walk in the shoes of one Ashley J. Williams.
