Nicknamed “THE EXPENDABLES of Horror”, the upcoming DEATH HOUSE promises to be both brutal and bone-chilling.

The film features an incredible cast, including such notable talent as Adrienne Barbeau, Dee Wallace, Michael Berryman, Kane Hodder, Barbara Crampton, and Tony Todd, among others. DEATH HOUSE is said to have been inspired by everything from Dante’s A DIVINE COMEDY to ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK to THE WIZARD OF OZ. But whatever its inspirations, you can be sure it will be a film to remember.

According to the official plot synopsis, DEATH HOUSE is an original story about a pair of government agents tasked with observing the operation of a multi-level underground prison facility. The prisoners contained within are the very worst the world has to offer, and when a major power loss causes a mass prison break, the agents must fight their way through the horrors within and try to find a way to survive. Along the way, they come face to face with the full depravity of what is really going on in the Death House.

Having languished in production hell for several years, the film is currently slated to be released in January of 2018. It was originally supposed to come out in October 2016, but the death of writer and actor Gunnar Hansen (most well known for portraying Leatherface in THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE) pushed the release date further back. According to director Harrison Smith in an interview on the Deeptalk Radio show Brainwaves, Hansen will still be appearing in the film. “Thanks to the wonders of digital technology, this is Gunnar’s last official appearance onscreen, in the film he worked so long to get made,” Smith confirmed.

In another interview with horror news and forum site Bloody Disgusting, Smith stated, “The film is an embrace of the convention crowds and old school horror fans while delivering a cool, fresh new story for a younger generation of horror fans who may not recognize all of these classic names. We aren’t embracing hype as ‘the scariest movie of the year’. Instead, we made a damned good horror film that aims higher than the bar is presently set. A solid script, cool action, science fiction, and dark conspiracy against the backdrop of what defines good and evil. That’s what we set out to make, and we made a great film for these stars to be part of.”
