We can never get too much Indy, right?

Well, that’s a good thing because Disney just announced another Indiana Jones installment coming from both director Steven Spielberg and star Harrison Ford, who showed off his action-adventure muscle once again in STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS.

Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn said in a statement, “Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019. It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor, and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”

The first Indiana Jones romp, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, premiered in 1981 and the series collectively has brought in almost $1 billion in North America alone. (No wonder they want to get back on the horse!)

Details are zero at this point, but since it’s not being released until July of 2019, that makes sense. No word on whether Shia LaBeouf or Karen Allen will return. It seemed Shia was being groomed to take over the franchise — he did play Indy’s son, after all — but with the length of time since the last entry and three more years before the next, not to mention the fact that he bashed the flick after it was released, the odds seem slim. It also seems he’s sworn off big-budget studio flicks following 2011’s TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON, focusing on indies like LAWLESS, NYMPHOMANIAC VOLUMES I and II, and THE NECESSARY DEATH OF CHARLIE COUNTRYMAN. (Not to mention his performance art!)

Who else could Indy pass the whip to? There are a lot of hot young actors out there. Maybe Chris Pratt isn’t too busy guarding the Galaxy or battling dinosaurs? Josh Hutcherson’s free now that the HUNGER GAMES have concluded. And with the FANTASTIC FOUR reboot being a nonstarter and the DIVERGENT series coming to an end, Miles Teller may be interested in his own adventure series… Who do you think would be a good replacement for Ford? Let me know in the comments!
