Jeffrey Combs, star of RE-ANIMATOR, has just joined the list of voice actors contributing to DC Comics’ upcoming fighting game INJUSTICE 2. Combs will be playing Brainiac, an extraterrestrial android and longtime foe of Superman.

Combs is no stranger to voice acting work, and has appeared in other DC Comics productions such as JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED and BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD. His affinity for a sinister tone, as heard in his work as fellow supervillain Scarecrow in THE NEW BATMAN ADVENTURES, makes him perfect for voicing Brainiac, one of INJUSTICE 2’s major antagonists.

INJUSTICE 2’s official character bio for Brainiac in this continuity reads:

Brainiac is a megalomaniacal genius who roams the universe, collecting knowledge to increase his intellectual and scientific prowess. Obsessed with establishing his superiority, Brainiac captured Krypton’s greatest cities, then eradicated what remained…or so he thought. Tales of the “Last Son of Krypton” have reached far into the stars. Now, the Collector of Worlds comes to Earth to finish his accumulation of Krypton — and discovers a new world worthy of his collection.

INJUSTICE 2, set for release for Playstation 4 and Xbox One on May 16, 2017, will follow the storyline set by the first, with Batman and his allies trying to pick up the pieces following a multi-universal war against a tyrannical version of Superman. As well as the continued story, INJUSTICE 2 is boasting to have the largest playable roster of DC characters in any fighting game, and a large amount of customization options that can be gained with each battle.

Voicing roles alongside Combs are Richard Epcar (Raiden, MORTAL KOMBAT), reprising his role as The Joker from INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US; Kevin Grevioux (Raze, UNDERWORLD) as the newly-announced Darkseid; and, of course, Kevin Conroy once again contributing his iconic Batman voice.
