Famous Monsters had our first official Meetup this past Friday on IT’s opening night, and we had a scream!

Famous Monsters has always been dedicated to connecting with fans. From Forrest J. Ackerman’s deep roots in San Diego Comic-Con and science fiction fandom to the first Famous Monsters convention in 1975 to the multiple festivals and conventions Famous Monsters currently hosts each year, the Monster Kids are at the heart of everything we do! So we joined Meetup, a website and app that lets people find in-person meetings of people who are interested in a particular subject or event.

Famous Monsters had its first Meetup on Friday, and it was a blast! We took out an entire theater to host a private screening of IT on its opening night, and dozens of fans showed up to play trivia and participate in a raffle for prizes like IT (1990) lunchboxes, t-shirts, and even tickets to the Famous Monsters Halloween Convention. After the movie, fans had a chance to share their thoughts on IT with the Famous Monsters TV crew or just catch up with us and chat a while.

We’d like to give a huge thank you to everyone who came! Don’t forget to keep an eye on our YouTube page to see if you can spot yourself on Famous Monsters TV, and watch for our future Meetups!
